📦 Choosing the Right Containers
Choosing the right breeding container is a crucial part of successful beetle breeding.
Here’s a quick breakdown of some cost-effective options and how I use them:✅ Breeding Containers from Dollar TreeÂ
(Cheap, sturdy, and surprisingly effective)
1. 96 oz (2838 ml) container
Great for large larvae (40g+). There’s also a 128 oz (3784 ml) version available if you need even more space.
2. 12.2 oz (360 ml) container
Perfect for L1–L2 larvae.
3. 34 oz (1005 ml) container
This is my personal favorite.
Ideal for most species where the final larval weight is under 30g, or adult beetles under 50 mm.
For Cyclommatus, you can lay the container on its side to give them more room.
4. 97.38 oz (2880 ml) container
I use this for housing adults, and also for inserting an artificial pupa chamber.
5. 108.5 oz (3200 ml) container
Similar usage as the 96 oz and 97.38 oz containers.✅ Breeding Containers from DAISO
DAISO carries containers in all kinds of sizes, and they’re quite handy. But if you’re using them for larvae, I recommend adding fabric mesh on the lid to prevent fungus gnat infestations.
