
1. Artificial Pupal Cell (Chamber)
When it comes time for pupation, giving your beetles a proper space to transform is critical. I usually use oasis floral foam blocks and carve out a chamber that matches the size of the pupa. They prevent emergence failures, which are sadly common in natural substrate-based cells.
❌ Problems you might face with natural (substrate-made) pupal cells:
▪ The chamber might be too tight.
▪ The cell can collapse easily.
▪ There’s a risk of suffocation if airflow is poor.
